SOCAR Opens Its Second Electric Truck Charging Station

On May 18, 2026, SOCAR Energy Switzerland commissioned its second fast-charging station for electric trucks at its Fuchsberg Nord site in the canton of Schwyz. The new location on the A3 national highway represents another important step in expanding high-performance charging infrastructure for electrified heavy goods vehicles in Switzerland.

Following the opening of its first fast-charging station in Kölliken North in May 2025, SOCAR is continuing its consistent expansion of high-performance charging infrastructure with the Fuchsberg North site. At this location, an existing diesel charging station has been replaced by a modern 400 kW charging station for electric trucks. In addition, four fast-charging stations with a total of eight charging points for electric passenger cars, each with a charging capacity of 200 kW, are available.

Battery storage enables the site

The technical implementation of the energy supply at the Fuchsberg North site is particularly noteworthy: The charging infrastructure is based on an integrated 625 kW battery storage system combined with a 200 kW grid connection. Together, this enables a total charging capacity of 825 kW. Without the battery storage system, the site would not have been feasible due to limited grid capacity.

With this approach, SOCAR demonstrates how high-performance fast-charging infrastructure can be implemented economically and practically, even at challenging locations. As with all SOCAR charging stations, only green electricity is used at Fuchsberg North.

Matthias Eisenhauer, Director of Retail at SOCAR Energy Switzerland, explained: “The increasing number of electric trucks is a strong market signal. We see it as a clear mandate to resolutely drive forward the development of a comprehensive fast-charging network for heavy goods vehicles. Pragmatic solutions such as battery storage demonstrate how we can achieve this goal even in challenging locations.”

SOCAR is consistently advancing the expansion of a nationwide network of fast-charging stations for passenger cars and trucks. By the end of 2027, around 100 high-performance charging stations are planned along Switzerland’s most important transit and logistics routes.
